Last week we took off pretty early mid-week with a few of the kid's friends for a short (but steep) hike up Beacon Rock. I hadn't been there since before we had any kids. It's such a unique place, with amazing views and it's a really nice drive out there as well!
Hiking
Wahclella Falls
In late January the kids and I snuck out for a beautiful morning hike in one of our favorite spots in the Columbia River Gorge. Wahclella falls lies at the end of a fairly short loop that you can access from the same exit as the Boneville dam. The falls was in full-force, and fuller than I'd ever seen it.

South Falls at Last Light
I had a chance to arrive at Silver Falls just as the sun dipped behind the trees and the last of the fall leaves are about to drop. I've taken photos of this particular falls from many different vantage points, but it never ceases to amaze me.
Beautiful Girl, Beautiful Morning
With the boys away at a sleepover, Aislynn and I snuck out of the house pretty early on Sunday for a short hike up at Mt Tabor.
Getting Outside With My Boys
A few weeks ago, Emily took Aisy out for a lunch date so the boys and I grabbed a burger and headed off to expolore Powell Butte. The main road up to the parking lot is closed as there is an underground water resevoir that is almost finished, but not quite done.
There are tons of trails up here, and it seems like a pretty fun place to ride bikes, so I'm sure we'll be back with wheels sometime soon.
Wahclella Falls
Emily and I took the kids out for a short hike Sunday at one of my favorite areas, Wahclella Falls in the Columbia gorge. I've posted a photo of this series of falls before, but the color and light is different in this one.
Also, the scene where the little girl is rescued in Homeward Bound was filmed right at the base of these falls. I told the kids during the hike in which led to all manner of conversations all the way back to the trail head.
