ReGeneration

I’d like to share my latest project with you, a series called ReGeneration, a multi-year project studying Nature’s Generative Art.

Mud cracks from the deserts of California, Oregon, and Utah. Alvord, Death Valley and Factory Butte

These cracks and tiles form in the most desolate places on earth as the barren landscape responds to the dual forces of moisture and heat. As a nature photographer and someone who cares deeply for this land- these small scenes provide a graphic and visceral look into the simultaneous fragility and resilience of our natural world.

This series will be released as a series of 1/1 NFT’s, minted on the ReGEN Manifold Contract and then listed for auction on Foundation.  Each token will contain metadata properties based on the location, conditions, season, time of day, type of formation, as well as technical camera info.

For those that have spent time with me in this community I think it’s pretty clear that my goal in the NFT tribe has been to build up artists, promote photography, and facilitate communication. Some of you I met through the Twitter spaces I hosted early on, some through the Metajungle Artist feedback AMAs I cohosted with @spacial.eth and others.  And some of you I’ve just graciously met through introductions from friends or late night ridiculous convos in groups chats.

This project is my next step.  A place to show work that is incredibly personal and meaningful to me as an artist,  a way to offer additional community and utility, and show appreciation for the people that have supported my journey as an artist.

Utility

  1. Winning a Piece

Each piece that is released will be listed at an opening reserve price, and of course the winner will take home the NFT. This earns a permanent place in my collector community with early access to all of my future work.

  2. Bids Earn Art

I will be keeping track of each bid that is placed and rewarding those bidders for their support. I’ll be adding these rewards over time but at launch, each bid will accumulate as a way to earn additional pieces. Those details will develop as more art is collected. Just know that bidding on this art will be worth it even if you don’t win.

3. Collecting Properties

There will also be utility in collecting multiple pieces and/or completing a set with specific properties. This will be a way to earn exclusive 1/1s or editions that are not available any other way. i.e; owning 3 pieces from Death Valley will earn a traditional landscape image from my travels there or 3 sunrise images might earn a desert sunrise image.

4. Pricing and Future Value.

My overall goal with this series is to share this art with a broad range of collectors, friends, fellow artists, and nature lovers. As such, the opening reserve price for this series is designed to feel accessible. At launch the reserve price will be .05 Ethereum, which at the time I write this is about $66. As future pieces sell, and the floor price goes up, I’ll periodically raise the reserve for future drops.

I want to reward early supporters and allow them to purchase at these affordable levels while simultaneously increasing value as more pieces are collected.

5. Series Size

This is an open series, meaning I don’t intend to place a hard cap on the number of images that will be released. This is a significant, ongoing part of my photographic legacy and I don’t intend to stop photographing this subject and telling this story. At the time of launch, I have roughly 75 mud tile images ready to release. I have a backlog of nearly 300 more to choose from. I expect that they will just keep getting more unique as I find new areas and new types of tiles.

6. Future Plans and Community

As with any long-term goal, things will develop and change. My plan is to involve the collectors of this work in the incentives, rewards, charitable donations, and future additions to this project. I hope to welcome and engage each of you in this process. Nothing would honor me more than having art in your collection and calling you a friend.
