My Favorite Kind of Light
I was having a conversation with someone a few days ago (in the comments on this post) about why there isn't a UV filter on the front of my lens in photos of my camera.
My answer was that I really love backlit subjects- especially right around sunset and filters usually introduce weird lens flare in those conditions.
Here's an example of a shot without that. I love the way that everything in the frame lights up and creates all sorts of swirly artifacts in the background.
A few years ago, I read about how landscape photographers often disappear around dinner time and are up trekking through the woods before the rest of the world is even awake.
This shot was more convenient than that, but I have found myself sneaking away for perfect light more often lately.
