If you like Food Carts and Mexican food, I highly recommend the Portland Mercado food carts on Foster in Portland. Each Cart has a different theme or regional specialty. Not too expensive and perfect for dinner at the end of a hot summer day.
The Portland food cart scene is a great place to find people doing their thing unaware of the world.
Today was a busy one, with crazy weather to match. I stopped at Fried Egg I'm in Love for lunch as I had a full card which entitled me to a free sandwich. I'm usually there about once a week. I was thankful that they recently put up a nice shelter as the rain was coming down pretty hard.
This guy is out here consistently at the food carts playing R and B and Jazz classics. It's always a nice addition to the noise of the transit mall and the heavy duty crowds surrounding the carts.
I've worked in the Hawthorne neighborhood near 39th Ave for a year and a half or so, and in that time, I've discovered a few great places to grab lunch. Fried Egg I'm in Love is right there at the top for either a late breakfast or lunch.
I stopped in yesterday and though the big tent and side window were closed due to the strong East wind we've been enduring, Jace was keeping things going and hooked me up with my favorite , the Yolko Ono.
Jace owns the cart with Ryan and gave me some history about the cart, seasonality and what it's like to cook up fantastic egg-based, breakfast food in Portland.
Thanks man, fantasic food, as always!
