Sunset
I just got photos back from the film I shot on our Maui trip last month. I waited way too long to drop it off. As soon as I saw this image it brought back exactly how it felt to be there sitting on the seawall next to our hotel at sunset.
I've got a few more I'll share soon, but I felt that this one belongs close to my last post.
This was made with my Hasselblad 500 CM, the Zeiss 80mm lens and Kodak Portra 400 metered at half box speed. Developed and Scanned by Blue Moon Camera and Machine.

A couple years ago we got up at 3 am and made the drive across Maui and up the winding road in the dark for sunrise here. This time it was just as beautiful (perhaps even better) coming up at the end of a fantastic day and witnessing the sunset. We stopped at a great restaurant on the way down the mountain and made a nice leisurely evening of it.
If you are planning to visit the summit of Haleakala I really do recommend bringing your cold weather clothes on the trip. Seriously, closed shoes, a wind proof fleece, a hat and maybe even gloves. Flip Flops and shorts don't really cut it.

Mixing two of my favorite things in this one; the Landscape style family Portrait. This is the image that's on our Christmas card this year. It was taken just a few minutes before Sunset Crashers. Per Emily's orders, I had to hang on to this one just like I do every official family portrait until after the cards are mailed.
We visited Shore Acres, near Coos Bay this evening to look at the Christmas light display, but arrived early enough to take in the sunset over the big waves first. I like the many tiny little lights, but this is so much better.
A couple days back we went out to dinner with Emily's brother Dan and his wife Beth. The restaurant, Rockin Baja is right next to the harbor and I stopped just long enough to get this photo before we sat down.
