Napili Bay hasn't failed us yet for seeing Sea Turtles. It was particularly rough water this year, but there were 4 of them hanging out in the shallow water near the rocks.

A Sprinkler Sort of Day
This week has been absolutely beautiful and classically "summer" here in Portland. After dinner on Thursday, I just walked into the room where the kids were all playing with electronics and said, "Sprinkler?"
They immediately ran to get their swimsuits on, I grabbed the camera, and we headed outside.
1st Day on Maui
Our first day on the island wasn't full of events and trips and locations. In fact, we pretty much just hung around our condo, beach and pool all day.
Pit Stop Pic
Some mornings, you have to ditch your normal workout routine and go for a run. On the occasional morning, you look at the sky before stepping out the door and you grab the GoPro because it's kind of a hassle to get the iPhone out of your arm band if you want to make a photo.
Not the best composition- in fact it was pressed up against a chain link fence, but the whole run was bathed in this beautiful light.
Frozen Water
I've been waiting for a few days of freezing temperatures for a couple months now so the waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge would freeze. I've always loved photos of them, but hadn't seen them myself or had the chance to make photos.
Luckily there was a long enough break in the wind and snow for the kids and I to drive out there and check out a few. Our first stop was Elowah falls which we just visited a few weeks ago in much warmer temperatures.
The hike in was a little more work than the kids remembered, but I kept assuring them it would be worth it and it was. Emily called us about half-way in and told us that the weather reporters were warning of an approaching storm that was going to arrive earlier than we had expected. That gave us some motivation to push a little harder.
On the way back to Portland we stopped and checked out Horsetail falls and Multnomah falls.
The Snow is Here
My kids have been complaining about the lack of snow here in Portland for the last couple years and it has now arrived. We haven't had this kind of snow since 2009 or so.
Luckily schools and the bank closed early today so while Emily worked from home and baked chocolate chip cookies, the kids and I took full advantage of the white stuff.
